The Pines office will be closed on Monday, February 19th for President’s Day.  If you have a maintenance emergency over the long weekend, please call the office number at 934-2157 and dial 9 to reach the maintenance person on duty. 

Monthly Calendars.  Reminder we will no longer be placing individual calendars in the mailboxes.  The calendars will still be posted in all public areas.  Please remmber that the calendar can be accessed on the Pines website @ www.thepinescommunity.org  also, if you would like to have the calendar emailed to you, please stop by the office and see Tammy to get this set up.

Reminder staff will no longer be picking up trash at your doors.  The Pines at Ocean Park trash dumpster is located at the back of the property near the walkway to Pinewood. And the Pinewood trash dumpster is located to the left as you exit the portico.  You are welcome to take out your own trash at any time, if you are unable to do so a friend, neighbor, family member or care giver might be able to assist you with this. 

If you need information regarding recycling, please stop by the office.  The recycling bins will still be emptied by our staff.

Reminder to residents.  Sand is available if you would like your own supply.  All exits/entrances have sand buckets that are available for your use.

Marcie’s office hours.  If you find yourself challenged by housekeeping, meal prep, paperwork, government agencies, benefits, etc. Contact Marcie (934-2157, extension 4) about your issue and let’s work together to find resolution. Marcie will be in the small office at Pinewood on Tuesdays from 9-12:00.

Crow’s nest.  Come shop at the Crow’s Nest in February and fill a bag for $1.00.

Friday Afternoon Movies Baggs Room 2pm –February 2nd “Hidalgo” (2004) Historical adventure based on a true story of a man and a horse.  February 9th “Pride & Prejudice” (2005) Historic romance.  February 16th “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day” (2008) Comedy.  February 23rd “My Left Foot” (1989) Biography. February 6th Baggs Room.  Come learn to play Cornhole (a.k.a Bean Bag toss) led by Southern Maine Agency on Aging.  This game is a lot like horseshoes but much easier to play.  Join your neighbors in learning to play this game and have some fun.  (Snow date February, Wed.7th).

Pines Family & Friends.  The Pines Family & Friends Residents Group are looking for all residents to join them for their planning meetings.  Meetings are an Hour +/- and are held once a month. February meeting will be Thursday, February 8th @ 1pm.  Please call Doris Harris FMI (Apt 52) 205-9757.

Ever thought of joining a book club?  Did you know there is one that meets every third Thursday at 10:30am in the Baggs Room?  This book club is open to the wider community and to all Pines |Residents.  The book that will be reviewed on Thursday, February 15th will be The House Girl by Tara Conklin.

Break up the winter blahs by coming to the Pines resident Pot Luck dinner “Everything Red” to be held in the Baggs Room on Sunday, February 18th at noon.  All Pines residents are invited to attend but if you do plan to attend, it would be helpful if you would sign up and indicate what kind of dish you will bring. Organizers are asking for this month food donations are Red in Color, to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Food donations do not have to be homemade so if you are not a cook, don’t let that stop you.  Go to the grocery store and pick up something to bring.   Organizers are hoping that there will be enough interest for the pot luck to be held on a monthly basis so watch future calendars for more information.

Volunteers, needed for planning/work on the 4th of July Parade Float.  The float will need a name for entry. Call Cindy Stevens (Apt 8) 937-8162 with ideas or questions.
